MEOW25: The Knox Family Support Throughout the Years

About 15 years ago, I was first introduced to the Meow Foundation through an ad on Shaw Cable TV station. It featured a man lining up toy soldiers on the floor, facing his cat. It was such a sweet, heartwarming ad that showed how anyone could benefit from having a cat companion. I really wish I could find that ad again—hopefully, someone at the Foundation still has a copy!

After that, our family started following the Meow Foundation and began making small monthly donations. I even ran a few times for Team Meow in the Calgary Marathon (just the 10k). In 2016, the marathon had a superhero theme, so I created a Meow Foundation cape, thinking of the Foundation as heroes for rescuing cats.

Last May, we lost our beloved family cat. We miss him every single day, but we knew that when the time came to adopt another cat, we would turn to the Meow Foundation. In August, we did just that and brought home our sweet little Amelia. We’re so happy with her, and I’m sure she feels the same about us.

So, here’s to a big Happy 25th Anniversary to the Meow Foundation! Thank you for all the incredible work you do. We also enjoy both the Meow Thrift shops and the Regal Cat Café.

In 2025, MEOW Foundation is celebrating 25 years of rescuing and rehoming cats in need—and we couldn’t have done it without you! Whether you’ve adopted a feline friend, volunteered your time, fostered a cat in need, or supported our thrift shop, your story is part of MEOW’s journey. We’d love to hear how MEOW has touched your life.

Share your story, memories, and photos to help us celebrate a quarter-century of cat rescue and community. Send your story to socialmedia@meowfoundation.com to be featured on this page, or use #MEOW25 on Facebook or Instagram to be featured on social media.
