Please give a warm welcome to Wilford. Wilford had had some bad luck. He was unable to stay in his former home and it was discovered he was also diabetic. He has spent some time at MEOW to make sure his medication needs were stable and you can see from his photo, how handsome and healthy he looks now. With his new lion cut, it feels like you ar hugging a piece of plush black velvet.

He would be happiest as a single cat and be spoiled with love and attention.

Did you know that diabetes is much more common in males? It can be easily managed with insulin injections twice a day. The injections are just under the skin, are inexpensive and not painful. While it is ideal to give the insulin injections every 12 hours, life and personal schedules can be complicated. Some owners do a 10 hour and 14 hour or an 11 and 13 hour schedule and their pets manage well.

It is also beneficial to feed diabetic cats a diabetic management prescription diet which is readily available at veterinary clinics.

Do not be afraid of adopting Wilford. He is just like any other senior cat who has a chronic health issue. MEOW will be able to provide any advice and training you need to administer his medication. Please consider giving Wilford the home he deserves.

He was very grateful to our team who helped him with some very pesky ear mites and always makes sure his kennel is in a tip top mess to help our volunteers feel like they are making good use of their time and of course, it also means he is able to have much longer visits with his favourite people. Meet Mamala Harris. She's a beautiful short haired calico and she's "not going back". She's ready to turn the page and start a new chapter where she gets to be VIP in her forever home. Winner of a blue ribbon in the category……She has come so far! Meet Wanderwell.

Our amazing little survivor came from an environment where life was tough. She had some upper respiratory symptoms which had not been treated in a timely fashion and her eyes can be a bit runny some days, but she is healthy, happy and is having a blast meeting all her feline roomies. Wanderwell would do very well in a more mature home and she would also love to have a mellow, laid back feline friend. Come meet this petite little lady.

While not as extroverted as Strudel and Blueberry Muffin, Madeleine makes up for it in her playfulness (as well as being perhaps the cutest of her siblings!). More than everyone else, she loves climbing on her foster humans backs when they aren’t looking or trying to nibble at our ears and lick our faces when we pick her up. When someone new arrives, she’ll often be beside her sister Madeleine for a while, waiting and observing, before eventually joining her more outgoing siblings and joining in on the fun. Expect a girl that can surprise you with her playfulness after you prove to her how much you care.

GP is well loved at the adoption center, always eager to give head butts and chat at staff as we're going about our day. He is always so excited to see people, and sometimes he really doesn't want you to leave or gets so excited he doesn't quite know what to do with himself, which can lead to an errant nip or swat. He is working on learning better manners, but in the mean time he would do best in a cat experienced home with no children.

Kernel is focused on the future. At some time in his past and prior to MEOW, Kernel was injured and his right hind leg was amputated. Since his arrival at MEOW, he has also had dental surgery and at long last, we are pleased to say he is ready for adoption.

Kernel is a bit of a plus size cat and he will need a new pet parent who is able to monitor his diet and portion feed him to help stabilize his weight. In an ideal world, it would be beneficial if he trimmed up a bit which will make it easier for him to move around. His new home should consider things that would make Kernel's life easier, such as a litter box on his living level, the fewer stairs the better, or pet steps or stools so he can access the couch and your bed for cuddles and zzz's.

Kernel loves people and gets long well with some cats as long as they're respectful of his boundaries. He can have a short petting threshold though, so he would do best in a home without wee ones and with people who have experience reading cat body language.

Precious Pryscilla is putting some distance between her past and a new future. Found in a Calgary park with evidence of frostbitten ears, pregnant and very hungry, she must have been a struggling stray for a few months. Chassis is a beautiful fluffy black gal who lost her TNR home and has come to MEOW to be enrolled in our socialization school. We know that life in an Adoption Centre can be scary and intimidating, but as she meets her cat friends, understands our routines and works with our amazing volunteers, she will soon begin to thrive. At this time, she is most comfortable observing people from afar, but we know that with time and patience, we will be able to get closer and closer and help her trust the people who love her for who she is.

He’s a classic - meet Old Dutch. Don't let his age on paper fool you - he is quite playful and especially loves chasing wand toys. Spending time with his humans is a priority and he is very happy to cuddle up on your lap or sit and lean into your legs as a back rest. While Old Dutch would be happy as a single boy, with proper introductions and like minded polite cats, he does enjoy the company of feline friends.

Giuseppe survived for most of his 10 years due to a kind person in the neighbourhood who kept an eye out and fed him when he came by. However the day came when this stalwart older gentleman needed some medical care and MEOW stepped up to offer him love and help.

Giuseppe is now neutered and has had a full mouth extraction to deal with his dental disease. It was also discovered he contracted Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) sometime during his life on the street.

This gent is a survivor and as you can imagine, he is also very shy. He has probably never had a home or the benefit of human socialization. He will require a very cat savvy adopter, someone who understands that Giuseppe may never allow pets, but that he deserves a forever home, just like all his friends at MEOW.

Cats with FIV can live happy and fulsome lives with normal attentive care. Giuseppe is not on any medication. Give Giuseppe something he has never had, a home!

More than a delicious biscuit, Biscoff is a fetching feline with an A+ personality. With his survival instinct on full throttle, Biscoff found the property of a TNR caregiver who kept his tummy full while they waited with hope to find an owner. After a couple months of regular visits, it was time to call MEOW to the rescue.

Biscoff is an attentive boy who loves to snuggle and if he could, he would be with people all the time. He loves to chat with staff and volunteers as they're going about their day, and maybe give them that special look that says "please come pet me!" As much as he loves people, Biscoff isn't a big fan of other cats, so would prefer to be the only cat in the home. Biscoff is healthy, happy and ready to find his person.

Need an icebreaker? Give Ranger a bit of catnip and enjoy the show as he flops to the left and flops to the right and coats his handsome brown tabby body with 'nepeta cataria'. Ranger has been a few places and seen a few things in his time on the streets. He is a charming cat who loves to sleep on the end of your bed, but is meant for someone who has a bit more cat experience and understands cat body language and petting thresholds.

Due to Ranger's time as a tough street guy, he has contracted Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). Cats with FIV should be single cats in the home, but can live long happy lives with normal attentive care. Reach out and ask about Ranger to see if he's the right fit for you!

Shortbread's gentle demeanour and warm welcome make her a perfect addition to any home. She has mastered the art of making guests feel right at home by welcoming them with meows and tail quivers. Her exemplary behaviour extends beyond social graces; she's also a model citizen when it comes to using her scratch post and even finds joy in having her nails trimmed, purring contentedly throughout the process.

In addition to her sociable nature, Shortbread has a keen appreciation for the simple pleasures in life. Whether she's perched on her favourite spot by the window, basking in the sunlight, or lazily lounging atop her cat tree, she’s a calming and peaceful nature to any home. And while she's more than capable of entertaining herself, she cherishes the companionship of her foster family, readily showering them with affection and soaking up every moment spent together. She especially appreciates head scratches and forehead kisses whenever she can get them.

Blitzen was rescued in a nearby rural area with another cat. It is hard to believe, but they both survived their first year in an area rife with predators. This was in part due to a very caring and loving property owner and the desire to provide a promising future him.

Blitzen absolutely adores other cats. If there is a new cat in his room, he is one of the first to greet them to say hi (and investigate their food dish). He can often be found curled up in a bed near his cat friends, or running around and playing with them. His people skills still need some work, though. He doesn't mind people being in the room with him and will occasionally give staff or volunteers a little sniff, but he says "no thank you" to pets and being handled.

After a rough start, Miss Marpole is looking forward to good things and a rosy future. This wee shy girl came from a large outdoor group of cats and as such, she has not had the level of socialization that most cats need and deserve, but she is on the fast track with her people skills and making progress every day.

Since Miss Marpole was a stray cat and trying to survive during the first critical months of her life, she may have had a dispute with a more dominant cat and contracted FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Please do not be afraid of adopting a cat with FIV. Cats with FIV can live long uneventful lives with normal attentive care. Because she is still uncertain of people, Miss Marpole would do best in a home with another FIV+ cat.

Hot Toddy is somewhat shy and reserved. She is learning that pets are nice and even purrs now, but prefers to have another cat friend around to help her feel safe while her humans are around too. Her favourite time of day is when she hears the pop of a can of cat food. She’s the first to appear and will rub and twine around your legs. She’ll get so excited that her tail flips over her back and she barely notices that you’ve started petting her. She prefers to keep all four feet on the ground.

Toddy has really embraced learning how to cat in her foster home. I am a big and sometimes sassy guy. I prefer a quieter place of residence without other pets or kids. I have a weird love/hate relationship with bags. When you handle one it startles me but I like to try to climb inside of them. Despite being kind of picky and oddly not a big fan of Temptations treats, I have a healthy appetite and will do anything for food!

I do play with toys with you and alone but not for long. Once I settle in with you, I will try to take your spot on the couch or at worst lean on you while sitting next to you. After a couple of months I won't mind if you pick me up for some cuddles. I do like it when you kneel down on the floor to pet me; just not my stomach. I love a sunny spot to lie and will talk to the birds when they come by to visit.

Katashi has early hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy aka heart disease. He does not need any medications at this time, however he will need yearly check ups and monitoring of his heart for progression of the disease.
