Trap Neuter Return (TNR)

Assisting Calgary's feral cat population

MEOW Foundation’s Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program assists feral Calgary cats who do not have the socialization necessary for adoption into homes. Cats in this program are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, microchipped and returned to their neighbourhoods. Trained community caregivers provide them with a stable source of food, water and shelter.

Why is TNR important?

On average, female cats have three litters each year. Kittens born to feral cats are not spayed or neutered, which further increases the homeless cat population. Our TNR program humanely controls and reduces Calgary’s feral cat population, while providing these cats with the essentials necessary for survival outdoors.

How you can Help Feral Cats

Like all our programs, our TNR program runs by donations from our generous supporters. Your donation helps provide food, shelter, and medical care to Calgary’s feral cat communities.

How Can I Become a TNR Caregiver?

TNR Caregivers are responsible for providing food and water to the neighbourhood cats in their care. All vet care costs are covered by MEOW Foundation. If you are feeding feral or wild cats in your neighbourhood, we’d love to have you as a TNR caregiver. Please email us at tnr@meowfoundation.com for more information.

Adopt a Cat

If you’re looking for a new feline friend to add to your family, you’ve come to the right place. Our Cat-a-Logue features all of the cats and kittens in our care who are officially ready to be adopted.
