MEOW Foundation is so lucky to have the support of the business community in Calgary! From jewelry to skincare to artwork, businesses of all kinds lend their support through third party fundraisers. So when Vintage West Wine and Spirits reached out to ask if we wanted to partner with them to get 50 cents from certain bottles of wine donated to MEOW, we jumped at the chance!
An animal lover herself, Shauna founded Vintage West Wine and Spirits in 2009 with business partner Matt. They regularly support local charities through different campaigns. With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, they decided to kick their giving up a notch.
My business partner Matt and I feel that when you do well, it’s a privilege to be able to help charitable organizations, especially animals. When COVID hit and our business thrived as people continued to enjoy wine, we knew we had to do something more significant.
Shauna says: “Many people were struggling to put food on the table as they lost jobs, so we contacted food banks in BC and Alberta and offered to partner with them to give 50 cents per bottle from select wine brands. We donated over $40,000 with that program. Next was wanting to help animal charities that were struggling with donations due to activities being suspended. We did a program with the SPCAs in AB and BC and have donated over $30,000 this past year.”
With an eye for marketing, Shauna matches charities with products that are a good fit with their mission and vision. When she saw Le Petit Chat (French for “the little cat”), MEOW immediately came to mind. “I have respected and admired the work of MEOW Foundation and the army of volunteers for many years. Being able to assist you in your mission to help keep cats and kittens safe from harm and cared for is a highlight for us.”
Vintage West is not only donating 50 cents from each bottle of Le Petit Chat, but they also kicked off this campaign with a $1,000 donation of their own! Shauna says: “Matt and I feel that when you do well, it’s a privilege to be able to help.”
