Bo is living proof that no cat is beyond warming up and socializing.

When Bo first moved in with his foster family, he wouldn't allow anyone to touch him and that remained unchanged for almost a year and a half. Bo had to hang out in his own room because he was a wee bit aggressive with the resident cats. Of course from his perspective he'd been trapped, moved into a strange building, and there were these other cats that might pose a threat. He was SCARED. So Bo spent the first 18 months in care with his own room living the work from home life with his foster dad. He grew comfortable around people and would pace around - attempt to help himself to his foster dad's lunch, and sing sweet lullabies in his warbly bengal voice - preferably during important meetings. But still - he wouldn't allow any touching and was defensive and on edge around the resident cats.

But then something changed. Bo met a kitten. Another foster kitten in the house stormed into his room one day and marched up to Bo. Bo melted. Bo is OBSESSED with kittens. Whenever foster kittens are in his foster home, he just wants to hang out with them.

Since then, his defensiveness around the resident cats (younger than him) is hugely reduced - instead he comes out of his room and it's head butts and sniffing. His foster family still keeps an eye or ear open when he's out of his room - his play can be a bit aggressive and the resident cats (possibly traumatized by his defensive phase) are the ones trying to put space between themselves and him which is a signal he doesn't always get and a good cue for some cooldown time in his room.

So - what about humans? In the last six months, Bo has realized that humans aren't JUST a food delivery service, but they are also a source of pets - and you know what? Pets are maybe not all that bad. Bo will let you know when he's in the mood for pets - he comes up and starts rubbing against your legs. His foster parents also try to make a point of petting him while he's eating and that's helped make great progress. Bo can now be picked up (doesn't love it - but makes getting him into a crate for travel a lot easier), enjoys pets on his terms, and generally does well with other cats. Oh, and he sings. He's quiet at night, but during the day you will never wonder where Bo is - just listen to his singing.

Bo would be happy being a solo cat, or could happy in a home with a kitten or two with slow introduction and supervision until they figure out their dynamics. If it's a home with other cats, he would probably like to have a room that's 'his' where he can sleep, and get some alone time when everything gets to be a bit too much. But if you are looking for the most rewarding cat experience in the world - Bo is your boy. He's slow to warm up, but that makes every pet, every breakthrough feel just incredibly special. It's not the destination with Bo, it's the journey.

Bo has a condition which can cause swelling and mouth lesions, but it's well managed with medication in his hypoallergenic food.
